Caren Camblin :

Caren Elise Camblin

Caren has been teaching at Pleasure Point since 2014. She completed multiple yoga teacher trainings with Rolf Gates, Aimee Joy Nitzberg Scherbak, and Sean Guinan. Caren seeds her classes with meditation themes woven from primarily the philosophical teachings of The Yoga Sutra, The Bhagavad Gita, and The Tao Te Ching.

She holds a master’s degree in philosophy from Stanford University and has been a lecturer at UCSC since 2005. She is also a Core Trainer with NVC (Nonviolent Communication) Santa Cruz and serves on their board of directors.

Caren was the first woman in Santa Cruz to earn a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In 2021 she founded a body positive, LGBTQIA+ inclusive martial arts school called NIJI DOJO on Pleasure Point. NIJI serves adults, teens, and kids with a warm, inviting, fun and supportive space for challenge and growth.

She brings clear communication, deep compassion, and play to her teaching. Caren continues her education by training with her mentors and studying trauma-informed care and nonviolence through a social justice lens.
