Aimee Joy Nitzberg :
The world always seems a little brighter and more peaceful after a yoga class. I began teaching with the hope to inspire people to practice Yoga consistently, to cultivate a practice which focuses on deep self-inquiry, and to practice with joy and love. Showing up to class takes dedication, discipline and courage and it gives us a chance to remember and tend to our true Self. My classes draw from the classical systems of Yoga I’ve studied while weaving new inspiration and ever-evolving styles into the mix.
The teachers with whom I’ve studied and have had the biggest influence on my yoga path are Richard Freeman, Dharma Mittra and Ram Dass. I also had years of experiences early on with Bikram Yoga, it was my first style of practice and teaching; I opened my first yoga studio in 2001 with Kelley Walsh-Lyons in Burlington, VT. I was also an owner and teacher for five years at Village Yoga in Soquel and Santa Cruz from 2003 – 2008. Books, friends, co-teachers, students and travel have all been amazing teachers to me as well. After training in systems such as Bikram, and Ashtanga Vinyasa I yearned for more freedom to tailor my practice and teaching with classical yoga, intuitive knowledge, creativity and expression. This has evolved into a love affair with Vinyasa and Yin Yoga. I opened Pleasure Point Yoga in 2011 with a mission to bring health and happiness into the neighborhood and the greater Santa Cruz yoga community and I am so happy and honored to be here!
